Document Am I entitled to free NHS dental treatment if I am aged 19?

Automatic exemption stops once you reach the age of 19 regardless of whether you are in full time education, however you are entitled to free NHS dental treatment if your parent / guardian;


You may need to provide evidence when claiming free NHS dental treatment. This should be either;
 
  • your parent / guardian’s Tax Credit award notice that includes you as a child dependant and shows their income used to work out their Child Tax Credit is not more than £15,276, or;
     
  • your parent / guardian’s qualifying benefit award letter and your parent / guardian’s Tax Credit award notice that includes you as a child dependant, or;
     
  • your parent / guardian’s qualifying benefit award letter which includes an amount for you

If you are not covered by the above criteria you will need to complete an HC1 form to be financially assessed for help with your health costs.
