Document Can I refuse to treat a patient who suffers from a specific medical condition?

No, a performer cannot refuse to treat a patient who has a specific medical condition such as HIV or Hepatitis etc. Your practice should have the appropriate decontamination for all of your patients as detailed in the “Health Technical Memorandum 01-05: Decontamination in primary care dental practices”.

Click here to read more on the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) website and for further advice about this, you should speak to your Public Health Department.
