Document Why wasn't I told that I no longer qualify for an NHS Tax Credit Exemption certificate?

If you're entitled to an NHS Tax Credit Exemption certificate you'll automatically be sent a certificate once we've been informed of your entitlement from HMRC.

If you no longer meet the qualifying criteria when your certificate is due to expire, HMRC will not inform us of your entitlement and therefore a new certificate won't be sent.

When issued with a certificate, you're also sent an accompanying letter which includes the following;

“You should note the expiry date on your certificate. If you continue to meet the qualifying conditions you will be sent a new certificate. If your circumstances change and you no longer qualify for an NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate, you may wish to consider applying for help with health costs under the NHS Low Income Scheme.”
