Document Does my Medical Exemption Certificate (MEDEX) cover NHS dental treatment costs?

No, your Medical Exemption certificate (MEDEX) does not cover you for dental treatment. The letter which accompanied your certificate states the following:
'What the certificate covers
The certificate entitles you to all of your NHS prescriptions free of charge.
Note: The medical exemption certificate only provides exemption from NHS prescription charges. It does not provide exemption from other NHS charges e.g. NHS wigs, NHS fabric supports or NHS dental treatment.'

If you are issued with a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) and did not hold any other valid exemption at the time of your treatment, you will be liable for all charges.
