Document How is the patient charge derived for EPS release 2 prescriptions?

To be automatically exempt from prescription charges a patient must be 60 years and above or under 16 when they collect their items. This is calculated using the patient’s date of birth and the date the dispense notification is sent.

If the patient's age means they are exempt then the prescription is automatically set to a charge status of Exempt.

Where the patient's age is between 16 and under 60 years then the charge status is determined by the information entered by the dispenser and sent with the final claim message.
