Item Welcome to the NHS Business Services Authority Knowledge Base, the place to ask us anything you need to know

Document Does ‘PA’ need to be specified on the main body of the prescription if the item is personally administered?

No, this is not necessary. If an item is classed as personally administered on our system we will automatically treat it as such when it is received with a doctors’ account (both dispensing and non-dispensing).
Therefore, even if it has been dispensed to the patient from a dispensing practice’s dispensary we will still treat it as personally administered and will not deduct a patient charge.
