Document What does the EHIC cover?

Your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) lets you get state healthcare within the EEA and Switzerland at a reduced cost or sometimes free.

It will cover you for treatment that becomes necessary during a temporary visit to an EEA country or Switzerland until your planned return. It also covers you for treatment of pre-existing medical conditions and for routine maternity care, as long as you're not going abroad to give birth.

Treatment covered can vary between countries, please see the website to view more details about the country you are visiting.
