Document Can I use my Maternity exemption certificate until it expires if my baby was born prematurely?

Yes, you're entitled to use your Maternity exemption certificate to claim free NHS prescriptions until the expiry date shown upon your certificate. This is because the expiry date of your certificate is based on the expected date of birth of your baby rather than when it was actually born.

You'll no longer be entitled to free NHS dental treatment after your child's first birthday, even if your Maternity exemption certificate doesn't expire until after this date.
