Document Do I need to tell you if the income declared on my application has increased?

Undergraduate Students

If you're on an Undergraduate course, you don't need to tell us about any changes to your / your spouse / partner / civil partner's income.

This is because your award is non-means tested.

Postgraduate students

If you're a postgraduate course student you may need to tell us about an increase in your / your spouse / partner / civil partner's income, depending on your circumstances:

Your income from employment / self-employment

You don’t need to tell us if you have any changes to the amount you’re earning from employment or self-employment as this is not taken into account when assessing your bursary award.

Your unearned income

If the unearned income declared on your application was enough to affect your award, it will be visible on your Notification of Award (NOA) and we will ask you for evidence to prove your income later in the academic year.

In these cases, send us a covering letter and evidence demonstrating your increase in income to the following address:

Social Work Bursaries
PO Box 141
Hesketh House
200-220 Broadway
Fleetwood
FY7 9AS

We will reassess your entitlement within 20 working days and notify you of the outcome via email.

If your Notification of Award doesn't request evidence of your unearned income, this means the amount you told us on your application wasn’t enough to affect your award initially.

If this is the case, you only need tell us if there will be at least a 15% increase in your unearned income for the total academic when compared to the total amount you estimated.

You can tell us about a 15% increase by completing the relevant sections of the main application form again and sending it alongside evidence and a covering letter explaining your circumstances to:

Social Work Bursaries
PO Box 141
Hesketh House
200-220 Broadway
Fleetwood
FY7 9AS

We will reassess your entitlement within 20 working days and notify you of the outcome via email.

Please note, if your current Maintenance Grant award is 0.00 there’s no need to tell us about any increase to your unearned income, as there will be no change to your award.

Your spouse / partner / civil partner’s income

You don’t need to tell us if your spouse / partner / civil partner has had an increase in their income during the current tax year.

This is because your initial award would be based upon the previous tax year's figures.

However, if you’ve already had a reassessment this year based on an estimated decrease in their income for the current financial tax year, your award may be recalculated again once you’ve sent the required evidence to prove their full tax year's income.

If your award is based on an estimate your Notification of Award (NOA) will tell you what evidence we need.

Your adult dependant’s income

If you’ve applied for the Adult Dependants Allowance (ADA) and your dependant isn’t your spouse / partner / civil partner, their estimated income for your academic year may have been used in your assessment.

This will will be visible on your Notification of Award (NOA) and we will ask you for evidence to prove this income later in the academic year.

In these cases, send us a covering letter and evidence demonstrating your adult dependant's increase in income to the following address:

Social Work Bursaries
PO Box 141
Hesketh House
200-220 Broadway
Fleetwood
FY7 9AS

We will reassess your entitlement within 20 working days and notify you of the outcome via email.

Your child’s income

You don’t need to tell us if your child has had an increase in their income during the current tax year.
