Document What can I do if I have applied as 'Fees only' and now want to apply for the bursary?

If your application is pending / active

Your application will need to be 'rejected' so you can re-apply, please contact us to request this. Once your application shows as 'rejected,' you can reapply immediately using the 'Apply / Re-apply for an NHS Bursary' option in your BOSS account. Please ensure you send in any requested evidence along with your student coversheet.

If your original application has been approved

You need to complete a new application and send in any requested evidence which has not previously been sent along with your student coversheet. If you are now applying for a means tested award because your parents have separated you will have to provide us with the date of the separation along with evidence of this.

It is a requirement of the NHS Bursary Scheme that students make an application and submit all of their requested supporting evidence within nine months of the first date of their academic year (six months for any academic year starting prior to 1 September 2017).

However, if you originally applied as fees only but now want to apply for a means tested award due to a change in circumstances, for example if your parents have separated or their income has dropped, the nine month deadline will be from the date the change took place (six months if the change took place in any academic year starting prior to 1 September 2017).

This will not necessarily be the start of the academic year.
