Document What can I do if I have selected the wrong reason as to why I am an independent student?

If you have selected the wrong reason as to why you are an independent student, please see below for guidance.

New student

If you are a new student and you have submitted your BOSS application with the wrong reason as to why you are an independent student, you should send the appropriate correct evidence to confirm your independent status with a covering letter explaining the error you have made. Send this along with your student coversheet.

If you are applying as independent due to supporting yourself from your own earnings for at least 36 months, please also provide a covering letter with the names of your employers / any benefits you were receiving, what dates you worked / received benefits from and to, and whether periods of employment were full or part time along with evidence covering the full 36 months.

Continuing student

If you are a continuing student who has previously been assessed as independent, please send a covering letter explaining you have selected the wrong reason as to why you are independent and that evidence of your independent status has been submitted for your previous academic year. Please send this along with any other requested evidence and your student coversheet.
