Document What can I do if I have selected the wrong option on my BOSS application when asked ‘Which option describes when Year 1 of your course began or will begin?'

The BOSS application gives you three possible answers to this question
  • Starting or have started on or after 1 September 2012
  • Starting or have started between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2012
  • Started before 1 September 2007
If you have selected the wrong option, this may result in you being paid an incorrect rate of bursary.
If your original application is pending / active

Your application can be amended during the approval process. Please enclose a covering letter explaining the mistake you have made and advise which option you should have selected. Send this letter along with your student coversheet and any other requested evidence.
For all students who started on or after 1 September 2007 age was no longer taken into account when determining whether you would be classed as an independent or dependent student. Therefore, if you have incorrectly answered that your course started before 1 September 2007 and are applying as an independent student due to being aged 25 or over, you would need to send evidence that you meet one of the other criteria to be classed as an independent student. If you do not meet any of the other criteria to be classed as an independent student please contact us as we would need to reject your application so you can reapply as a dependent student.
