Document Why is my NHS Tax Credit Exemption certificate only valid for 6 months?

Since April 2014, all NHS Tax Credit Exemption certificates are only valid for up to 6 months at a time.

This administrative change was made by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to make the service more responsive to changes in people's circumstances.

No changes were made to the qualifying criteria.

If you still meet the qualifying criteria when your existing NHS Tax Credit Exemption certificate expires, you'll be sent a new one before the expiry date.

Prior to April 2014, all NHS Tax Credit Exemption certificates were valid for up to 12 months at a time.
