Document How will I receive my Childcare Allowance payments?

Your childcare payments are split into monthly payments made at the same time as your normal bursary payment. The amount you receive will depend on the amount of childcare you have been awarded each month. This means that you may receive a different amount of childcare each month.

The payments will be available to view in the ‘payment schedule’ screen on your BOSS account.

If you are a New or non-final year continuing student you may see that the final payment for your academic year shows a higher childcare amount than previous month.  This will often be because your academic year started midway through a calendar month.  For example, if you start your course on 21 September 2015 and claim childcare for the full 52 weeks, the period from 01 September to 20 September 2016 would be paid with your August bursary payment in the 15/16 enrolment period.  If you then claim childcare in the following year and your academic year starts on 21 September 2016 the payments for 21 September 2016 until 30 September 2016 will be included in your September payment in the 16/17 enrolment period. Although this payment may look low, you will not have been underpaid as you will have received most of your payments for September in August.
