Document Can I continue to receive Disabled Students Allowances (DSAs) if I am on maternity leave?

Disabled Students Allowances (DSAs) are  normally only payable while you are in attendance at university; any elements of the DSAs which relate solely to your actual attendance on the course will not normally be met whilst you are on a period of maternity, adoption or maternity support leave.

However, in certain circumstances we may authorise a claim for something which took place within your period of leave. For example, you may have received some Assistive Technology (AT) support training shortly after your maternity leave commenced or prior to returning to your course.

If you are unsure about any aspect of your DSAs support whilst you are on a period of authorised maternity leave, please contact us for advice.
