Document Who is classed as a surviving partner?

A surviving partner is a spouse, civil partner or qualified nominated partner.
 
If you are married or in a civil partnership when you pass away your spouse /partner would automatically be eligible for a dependent partner pension.
 
If you are living with a partner but not married or in a civil partnership they would not be automatically entitled to these benefits, however you may be able to nominate them to receive a dependent partner pension.
