Document Where can I find guidance on Practitioner contribution tiers?

Unlike other members of the NHS Pension Scheme the tiered contribution rates for Practitioners and non-GP Providers are not based on previous years’ earnings. As a Practitioner (or non-GP Provider) your tiered contribution rate is based on your actual certified pensionable NHS earnings. Initially, these are estimated and subsequently confirmed after the close of the financial year, with any under or overpayment of contributions being resolved with your employer once your End Of Year Certificate has been submitted.

If you hold an Officer post in addition to your Practitioner post, this income will be assessed separately and will have its own contribution tier.

For more information, please see the Contributions section of the NHS Pensions website.
