Document Which types of GP Locum work are not pensionable?

The following list provides examples of GP Locum work which is not pensionable:
  • GP locum work that has been arranged and paid through a third party (such as a commercial deputising firm, a commercial agency, or a unique limited company)
  • Private (non NHS work) performed on behalf of a GP or an out of hours provider
  • Working under a long term fee based arrangement (i.e. longer than a six month period) where the GP Locum has chosen to be regarded as a Type 2 practitioner for pension purposes
  • A GP Provider (i.e. partner, single-trader) cannot pension income as a GP Locum in their own practice
  • GP Locum work performed more than 10 weeks ago cannot be pensioned
