Document If I am a GP Locum and set myself up as a limited company, can I join the NHS Pension Scheme?

No, if you are GP Locum who has set themselves up as a limited company, you cannot pay into the NHS Pension Scheme. GP Locum work carried out through a limited company is considered a commercial, third party arrangement and as such is not recognised under the statutory NHS Pension Scheme Regulations.

For more information, please see the GP Locum Factsheet on the NHS Pensions website.
