Document If I have a break in service, can I keep my Mental Health Officer status?

Yes, as long as your break in pensionable employment is not five years or more, you can retain your Mental Health Officer (MHO) status.

If you have a break of five years or more in your NHS pensionable employment, you will lose the right to MHO status.

For more information please see the Mental Health Officer (MHO) factsheet on our website.
