Document Can I apply for an EHIC for my grandchildren?

You are only able to apply for an EHIC for your grandchildren if you are their legal guardian or their parent(s) are under the age of 16. If this is not the case, the children's parent(s) or legal guardian must apply for them.

If your child is under 16, you must apply with your child and your grandchild (the parent and child in this case) as dependants on your application. When your child (the parent) turns 16, they should contact us to separate themselves and their children from your application.
