Document On what grounds is someone entitled to claim a refund?

A refund of a Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC) is applicable if a PPC holder:

  • is deceased, or;
  • goes into hospital and remains there until the PPC expires, or;
  • receives either a Medical Exemption (MEDEX) or Maternity Exemption (MATEX) certificate, or;
  • turns 60 years of age, or;
  • is named on an HC2 certificate, or;
  • is entitled to an NHS Tax Credit Exemption certificate, or;
  • is named on a valid War Pension Exemption certificate.
A refund is also applicable if a PPC holder is, getting or included in an award of someone getting, one of the following benefits:
  • Income Support
  • Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income Related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Pension Credit Guaranteed Credit
