Document What is meant by Tariff Income?

The tariff income is a notional amount of income that we take into account when you have savings or capital over a certain amount. The tariff income is calculated from the amount of savings and capital declared on your HC1 application and is an amount that the Government expects you to use from your savings and capital to live on.

We take £1 for each whole or part £250 in excess of £6,000 and treat this as a weekly income called Tariff Income.

Example: you have £6,200 in capital, your Tariff Income will be calculated at £1.
