Document Dental Contract Reform - Do dental nurses need to be trained as an OHE in order to provide Interim Care (IC) appointments?

Dental nurses can undertake additional duties within their scope of practice but must be able to prove that they've received appropriate training and can deliver treatments. There is no requirement for a formal qualification. Practices are best able to gauge the training needs of their staff and this can be delivered via courses or through internal training for staff.

The regulations for an Interim Care (IC) appointment allows for DCPs to provide appropriate advice / treatment at this type of appointment as no examination is required for an IC.
