Document Dental Contract Reform - If a patient is seen by a Foundation Dentist are they included in the practice’s capitation list?

Under the prototype system, patients seen by a Foundation Dentist (FD) are not included in the practice’s capitated list.

If a current patient at the practice is treated by a Foundation Dentist, they will be removed from the practice capitation list. On return, if they are treated by a Performer they will again be added to the respective Performer's list.

The funding associated with training a Foundation Dentist is paid separate to the contract therefore adding these patients would falsely inflate the practice capitated list.

FD patients treated and FD activity will both be excluded from prototype capitation and activity completed totals.
