Document Disabled Students Allowances (DSAs) rates for postgraduate course students

If you meet all eligibility criteria, you can apply for support if you expect to incur additional costs whilst in training as a direct result of a disability or medical condition.

The amount of DSAs that may be approved will be based on the recommendations in your assessment of study needs report, however, the maximum possible full time rates during the 2018/19 academic year are as follows:
  • Non-Medical Helpers Allowance - £20,725 per year
  • Specialist Equipment Allowance - £5,212 for the duration of the course
  • General Allowance - £1,741 per year
  • Travel Allowance - actual costs incurred (over and above any public transport costs)
These rates are non income assessed and are only available if you've been allocated a capped bursary place.
