Document Can an agency be classed as an NHS employer for abatement purposes?

Yes, if you are employed by an agency to perform NHS work, you should be aware that the agency may be classed as a Direction Employer and that if this is the case, you may be subject to abatement. To establish whether you will be subject to abatement, contact NHS Pensions to provide them with details of your re-employment.
