Document Will my Annual Allowance calculation be affected if my pay has been reduced due to going on maternity/sick leave?

If you are a member of the 1995/2008 NHS Pension Scheme we calculate the pension growth for Annual Allowance using deemed pensionable or reckonable pay (and deemed hours if you are part-time). This is the pay that you would have received if you were not absent and so it will not affect your Annual Allowance calculation.

If you are a member of the 2015 NHS Pension Scheme your earned pension is 1/54th of the your pensionable earnings, therefore if you are absent and have no pension earnings then this would result in no earned pension for this period.
