Document Can I claim a refund of prescription costs paid before I received my Medical exemption certificate?

No, unless you have an FP57 receipt and the date on this is covered by your Medical exemption certificate.

Although you may have had the medical condition at the time you paid, it's the certificate, not the condition, which entitles you to free NHS prescriptions.

If you didn't have a valid certificate at the time you paid the charge, you wouldn't be entitled to free prescriptions and couldn't claim a refund.
