Item Welcome to the NHS Business Services Authority Knowledge Base, the place to ask us anything you need to know

Document Would I be exempt from paying for NHS prescriptions if I'm aged 16 - 18 and in-between two education courses?

Yes, if you're in-between two full-time education courses, you're entitled to education-based exemption during the break, up until your 19th birthday.

Example: You finish a full-time A Level course at a college in the July; you plan on continuing in full-time education somewhere else, such as university and have a letter offering you a place for the following term.

The offer of a place can be conditional or unconditional; it doesn’t affect your entitlement.
