Document Why won't a second Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC) application go through online?

The online application has a number of security settings which sometimes stops a second application using the same payment card number going through, this is to avoid duplicate applications being put through.

If this is affecting you, close down all of your internet browsers and reopen before processing the second application. No changes need to be made to your browser settings.

To prevent duplicate and non-required Prescription Prepayment Certificates (PPCs) being produced, the system will complete other checks on:
  • Surname, date of birth and post code
  • Surname and date of birth
  • Surname and post code
It may also be possible that you're unable to complete your application online due to your information matching a valid PPC on our system, even if the existing PPC is for someone else at the same address. In these situations, the NHSBSA will be able to complete these applications over the phone for you.
