Document Can I claim a refund of prescription costs paid before I received my Maternity exemption certificate?

No, unless you have an FP57 receipt and the date on this is covered by your Maternity exemption certificate.
Although you may have been pregnant at the time you paid, it's the actual certificate, not being pregnant, which entitles you to free NHS prescriptions.

If you didn't have a valid certificate at the time you paid the charge (even if you were pregnant), you wouldn't be entitled to free prescriptions and couldn’t claim a refund.
