Document Which benefits entitle me to free NHS dental treatment?

You're entitled to free NHS dental treatment if on the first day of your treatment (or on the date your full course of treatment cost is calculated if later) you get, or are included in an award of someone getting, one of the following benefits:
  • Income Support
  • Income based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
  • Income related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
  • Universal Credit (in certain circumstances only)

Benefits that don't entitle you

Although this list is not exhaustive you're not automatically entitled to receive free NHS dental treatment if you get, or are included in an award of someone getting, one of the following:
  • Contribution based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
  • Contribution based Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Tax Credits (unless you hold a valid Tax Credit Exemption certificate)
  • Pension Credit Savings Credit
  • Universal Credit (if you do not meet the additional criteria)
  • Incapacity Benefit
  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Attendance Allowance (AA)
  • Council Tax Benefit
  • Housing Benefit
  • New Enterprise Allowance (NEA)
  • Carer's Allowance
  • Any type of pension
