Document Guidance on completing the Confirmation of Medical & Dental Students Eligibility to Apply form

We have made some changes to the Confirmation of Medical & Dental Students Eligibility to Apply form for the 2015/16 academic year. We now ask that when you complete it you provide the course history for each student listed on your form.

This will help us ensure that we pay bursaries to students on bursary eligible years only and that each eligible student receives the correct funding for the respective course year.

We have had some issues with eligible / non-eligible course years in the past and it has an impact on everyone if the information that we base our assessment on isn’t correct.

This information may be requested before some students have finished their current year, there will be scenarios where the information you declare will be subject to change (e.g. repeat year, Intercalation). Where there is a change to the information you declare, we ask that you inform us of the change. This will allow us to make any necessary adjustments to the students bursary entitlement, or where appropriate, suspend their bursary to ensure they are not paid in error for a non-bursary funded year.

Below is a key showing what information is required in the course history section and also some examples.

F = Foundation Year (This can only be classed as a course year if it was integral to the course)

I = Intercalated (This is for when students do a 1 year Intercalated course in the UK)

G = Gap Year (This is for when students have had a full year off from the course)

1 to 6 = Students Course Year
