Document What are Local scheme payments (Enhanced Services)?

These are payments made to your pharmacy by your local Area Team. They are paid through a web based application called the Local Payment Application.

Some examples of local scheme are:
  • Advice to Care Homes.
  • Anticoagulant monitoring.
  • Stop smoking.
  • Screening.
  • Needle and syringe exchange.
  • Sharps disposal.
  • Weight management.
The payments appear on your Schedule of Payments under ‘Details of local amounts authorised by …. Area Team.

The payments are displayed i.e. ‘local scheme 1’ or they are specified; such as ‘Advice to Care Homes’.

If you wish to query these payments further you will need to speak to your local Area Team as NHSBSA only pay these schemes on their behalf.
